Best bars in Birmingham

Birmingham is the second largest city in the UK but often gets overlooked by people looking for UK city breaks. However, we think it’s time Birmingham got the recognition it deserves for its fun and vibrant nightlife. In this article we explore some of the best bars in Birmingham. So, if you’re hoping to switch up your next city break location, you have a ready made list of bars to visit.

Birdies

First on our list of best bars in Birmingham is Birdies, located in the well known custard factory. This vibrant space is not like anything else you will find in the city. With its unique tropical theme, street food and live music, you truly feel like you’ve walked into a bar abroad. The best part is, you won’t even need to book as this place accepts walk-ins making it an ideal spot for a spontaneous trip.

If you like a drink as much as we do, you need to try their unique sharing cocktails! Our favourite is Birdies Birdcage which contains ketel one vodka, Raspberry and Strawberry liqueur, rose and lemonade. If you’re feeling snackish, their street food style burgers and fries are sure to hit the spot.

Be at One

If you’re looking for a lively bar, no matter what time of day, Be At One is the place for you- the self proclaimed ‘party starters of Birmingham’. They serve more than 100 cocktails and have happy hours throughout the week. This place is not for the faint hearted, expect the bartenders to be the instigators of starting the party and encouraging people to dance on the bar. We would definitely recommend booking here especially if you plan to visit on a Saturday as it is common to see a long queue waiting out the door.

Pitcher and Piano

Another one of the best bars in Birmingham is Pitcher and Piano located at Brindley Place. Whether you fancy a bottomless brunch where you can enjoy prosecco and aperol spritz, or you just fancy a few cocktails, this place has it all. You will find this bar situated on the canal side with a beer garden overlooking the water. Our favourite part about this bar is the location and the atmosphere which is buzzing every weekend.

Aluna

If you are on the hunt for a contemporary bar with a concept like no other, Aluna is the place for you. They claim to thrive in the adventurous and relish in the abnormal. They pride themselves on providing a truly unique experience which is why we would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the city for a break. Aluna is located within the mailbox complex of Birmingham at a stunning waterfront location. It offers the ideal setting for their expert team of mixologists to provide guests with a completely magical experience.

For all those cocktail lovers out there, we highly recommend trying their very own black raspberry broth made from Martin Miller’s Gin, Chambord, Crème de Mure, Vanilla, Lemon and Cranberry.

Fancy taking your visit to the next level? Check out their cocktail masterclass where you will be guided by your own personal mixologist who will show you how to make show-stopping drinks.

Tonight Josephine

The next place on our list of the best bars in Birmingham has to be Tonight Josephine, known for being the sassiest bar in Brum! The drinks here are strong and the vibes are immaculate, so if you and your girl gang are looking for an excuse to go wild, Tonight Josephine is it. Be sure to book a table to avoid disappointment. Expect big birthday bashes and hen do’s here with live entertainment and bottomless brunching events.
